Empowering counseling to help you achieve your goals
My path to the field of mental health began after an initial pursuit of journalism. I was driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact, but I found that the broader, more macro lens of journalism didn’t fully satisfy that calling. My work with children in a group home in San Francisco was a turning point—it confirmed my commitment to supporting others in a more direct, relational way. Since then, I’ve worked with individuals, couples, and families to explore new ways of relating to themselves and one another. My approach encourages a deeper connection to self and others, fostering the resilience needed to navigate life’s uncertainties with openness and curiosity
My approach to individual therapy is shaped by over 20 years in the mental health field, as well as the insights gained from navigating my own life challenges. I bring a diverse clinical background, including experience in the eating disorder field where I developed strong cognitive-behavioral (CBT) skills. My work as a couples and family therapist has deepened my relational perspective, and in recent years, I’ve integrated experiential modalities such as AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy). These approaches emphasize the importance of a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship that allows clients to access and process their deeper emotional experiences and unmet needs.
Couples therapy offers an opportunity to strengthen your relationship by improving communication, resolving conflict, and deepening emotional connection. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that helps couples identify and shift negative patterns—such as criticism, withdrawal, or defensiveness—and replace them with more supportive and responsive interactions. EFT focuses on the underlying emotions that drive these patterns, guiding each partner to express vulnerable feelings like fear, sadness, or longing. This process fosters a safe, empathetic space where both partners can feel truly seen, heard, and valued—ultimately creating a more secure and resilient bond.
My approach to family therapy is grounded in my post-graduate training at The Ackerman Institute for the Family, a leading center for relational and systemic therapy. This model emphasizes understanding issues within the context of family dynamics rather than locating problems within a single individual. It draws on relational systems thinking and explores how patterns of interaction—often shaped by intergenerational influences—impact current functioning. Through this lens, therapy becomes a collaborative process that helps families strengthen communication, deepen empathy, and create lasting change within the system as a whole.
I also incorporate the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) program into my work with families. Developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center, SPACE is an evidence-based approach that helps parents support their children struggling with anxiety. Rather than focusing directly on the child, SPACE works by guiding parents to reduce accommodating behaviors and respond in ways that promote the child’s sense of security, resilience, and emotional well-being. This structured method empowers caregivers to play an active and effective role in their child’s healing process.
I have recently begun expanding my work to include psychedelic integration therapy. While psychedelic experiences can offer powerful insights, lasting change comes through the process of integration—the intentional reflection and meaning-making that follows. Integration therapy provides a supportive space to explore these experiences, helping individuals connect them to their broader emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth. My role is to help clients ground their insights in everyday life in a way that fosters resilience, clarity, and long-term transformation.
